Meet Carlos,

Carlos is a charming little boy with a big heart. Carlos is a sweet and sensitive soul who's perfectly suited to any home – whether you're a first-time dog owner or an experienced pet parent, he'll fit right in. He’s easy-going, gentle, and just wants to be where the people are!

This adorable social butterfly absolutely loves meeting new friends. His tail starts wagging, his eyes light up, and he’s ready to say hi with the kind of joyful enthusiasm that instantly melts hearts. Carlos is affectionate, fun, and loves to interact – whether it's curling up beside you (or on you), following you around the house, or just keeping you company while you go about your day. He does have a touch of that classic Chihuahua (mild) anxiety, but with a calm, loving home, he settles beautifully and shines with happiness.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and low-fuss dog, Carlos is your guy.

Ideal Home: Carlos is suitable to live in any home/property type, and yard size is of no concern either - just as long as the fencing is secure.

Family: Carlos is open to meet kids of any age and is fine to live with people who work full-time.

Carlos is also fine to spend time in the yard on his own, but would love the opportunity to be inside with his new family.

Furry Friends: Carlos is best to be the only dog in the home. Carlos is fine to be walked past other dogs without any issues but he is not interested in being friends with them and interacting with them. He possibly didn't have much socialisation in his previous home.

As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Carlos would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.

Training & Development: Carlos would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience - although he is a very easy dog who doesn't require much.

Carlos is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as: sit & beg. When offered a treat he will either sit or offer a beg - and he's very good at it, too. He is a smart boy who has had some previous training. He is food motivated and is known to be gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea - but he can be a little possessive of treats sometimes. All that we ask if that you don't try to take them off him if he is given one.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Carlos has low-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20mins-30mins every other day to keep him healthy & happy. Carlos doesn't show any interest in playing with toys - he prefers personal interaction with his handlers.

Carlos is a delight to walk - but he does like to stop for a sniff. He is fine to be walked on any apparatus.

Staff Comments:
Carlos is a lovely dog who is just happy being with you. He's great to walk and allows all handling & being picked up. He's a sweet dog who is very happy to potter around & do nothing in particular as long as he is with you.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
