Meet Cygni,
Cygni is a quiet and gentle girl with a heart full of potential. She may be a little shy at first, but underneath her timid nature is a cat who just needs a patient and loving home to help her blossom. Loud noises can startle her, so she’s best suited to a calm and peaceful environment with experienced owners who understand that building trust takes time.
Though a bit aloof, Cygni is an agreeable cat who enjoys affection on her own terms. She has a soft, chatty side - especially when it’s meal time! With patience, love, and a stable routine, she’ll find the confidence to shine as the wonderful cat she is meant to be.
Cygni is open to meeting children aged 15 and up - a quieter household with older kids will help her feel safe and secure. Cygni is still very unsure about being picked up, but she has started to learn that it's not so bad. She just needs some time to warm up to her new owner & new home. Despite not being a fan of being picked up, Cygni loves being patted & scratched on her back & around her neck, head & ears. She may hiss, but this is just her way of communicating - she doesn't mean any harm - because she is often purring & making biscuits when she does this, she just has a unique way of communicating to you.
Unfortunately, Cygni is not suitable to live with dog as they scare her. Cygni could possibly live in a home with other cats, but the introduction should be slow & controlled - preferably over a few days - to ensure that they have the best chance of becoming friends. Cygni seemed curious to meet other cats in the cattery, but she wasn't confident enough to be-friend them.
We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. Cygni will be a little too sensitive for outside living. Plus, if she is outside, it will increase her chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside only cat she can be safe & sound & live her best life.
Cygni has low energy levels. When she first came in we didn't really see her playing with toys at all, but overtime she has started to play with them. She's very gentle when she plays, preferring to gently bat or paw at her toys. Wand toys seem to get her attention... And as she likes food, food enrichment toys would be a great idea!
Cygni is not fussy with her food either & she also always uses her litter tray without any issues. She really likes meal time, you'll often see her at her condo window meowing, making biscuits and rubbing up against the glass in anticipation for breakfast & dinner. Cygni also likes treats!
Staff Comments: Cygni is a very shy cat who needs a patient owner to work with her. She loves pats & treats but just needs to learn to trust humans - she has come so far since being with us that we feel that in a new home, she will feel more confident if given the chance. At meal time she's usually out waiting for her food to arrive & doing absolutely everything that she can to get your attention to feed her first!

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
