Meet Diamond,

Looking for a dog who shines just as bright as her name? Say hello to Diamond! This gorgeous girl is an absolute gem - friendly, affectionate, and ready to steal your heart. Diamond is the perfect match for first-time dog owners and will fit right into any home, whether it's a lively, bustling household or a quiet, cozy retreat. She's adaptable, easygoing, and always happy to be part of the action (or the relaxation)!

If you love going for walks, Diamond is your girl! She thrives on getting outside, exploring the world, and stretching her legs. Whether it's a stroll around the block or a fun day at the park, she's always up for some fresh air and fun.

Friendly, outgoing, and affectionate, Diamond loves meeting new people and will happily soak up all the attention you give her. She enjoys engaging with her family and will be a loving, loyal doggo. Though she's gentle and well-mannered, Diamond still has those adorable bursts of playful, puppy-like energy. She loves to engage with her humans, and her happy-go-lucky personality is sure to bring smiles all around.

Diamond is a clever girl who enjoys learning new tricks and skills. She’s food - motivated, curious, and confident — ready to impress you with her smarts! If you’re looking for a fun, loving, and adaptable dog who will be your best friend through all of life’s adventures, Diamond is the one for you!

Ideal Home: Diamond is best suited to live in a standalone house or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.

Diamond is happy to spend time in the yard, but she’d love a treat puzzle to keep her entertained if you have one! She should also have time inside the home to help her feel like part of the family.

Family: Diamond is open to meet kids of any age & she would be suitable for people who work part-time - reason for this is that Diamond would benefit from someone whose schedule aligns with her want of training.

Furry Friends: Diamond is open to meet other dogs. During her dog assessment she was a little unsure at first, but at the assessment went on Diamond relaxed - she had a loose body, and sniffs & zoomies were exchanged. We just feel that she may be a bit too much for placid, docile dogs...

As we cannot test, we are unsure how Diamond would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.

Training & Development: Diamond would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience & group classes so that she can learn how to appropriately play with other dogs. While Diamond does jump, she only does this when she is excited and we are working with her on this behaviour - she has shown improvement already!

With additional training, Diamond could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social event.

Diamond knows her name & she knows commands such as: sit, drop & loose lead walking. She is food motivated and  is gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Diamond has mid to high-energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her content & happy. Diamond is playful & likes to play with soft toys & boxes. She also enjoys personal play with her handlers & engaging in training sessions. Treat puzzles would be good for Diamond too, as she enjoys 'working things out'...

Diamond walks well on lead, and we have been training her with loose lead walking - she is doing very well, too! She is fine to be walked on any walking apparatus.

Staff Comments:
Diamond needs someone who is willing to put in training as she can have moments of playful, puppy-like behaviour. what you see is what you get, she is not a complicated dog. Diamond loves enrichment feeds, she eager to train & learn more commands & skills. She is also a very affectionate dog who loves to be around her human friends.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
