Meet Diesel,

Diesel is equal parts cheeky, charming, and full of beans. With his big personality and even bigger heart, Diesel is ready to bring some serious fun to your home.

This handsome fella is outgoing, confident, and always up for an adventure. Whether it’s a hike through the bush, a beach run, or just a game of backyard zoomies, Diesel is the ultimate sidekick for active people or families who love to get out and about. He’s playful, social, and has energy to burn – so get ready to move!

Diesel is also wonderfully adaptable and can settle into just about any household environment. While he’s best suited to experienced dog owners or those familiar with his breed (hello, Husky stubborn streak!), he’s also very independent and knows how to keep himself entertained when you’re busy. But don’t worry – he’ll always be nearby when something exciting is happening!

He’s a friendly and agreeable boy with a silly, fun-loving streak. Diesel isn’t afraid to let his goofy side shine, and you’ll often find yourself laughing at his antics. Yes, he has his stubborn moments (classic Husky!), but it’s all part of his charm.

Ideal Home: Diesel is suitable to live in a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.

Family: Diesel is open to meet kids from 8 years & up - he's fluffy ball of energy who loves to play, do zoomies and often forgets where he is & whose in his way - he may accidently knock smaller kids over during his famous zoomies!

Diesel is fine to spend time in the yard on his own without any issues. On occasion he'd love to be inside with his new family, too. He is fine to live with people who work part-time or full-time.

Furry Friends: Diesel is dog selective and we mean that other dogs will be selective towards him. During his dog assessment he was enthusiastic about meeting the other dog but a little too pushy. He's smart though, he understood what he was doing & understood the other dogs reaction to him, too. He's quite self aware & self assured. With some manners, group class training sessions and some socialisation he feel that he'd be able to make friends in no time.

As we cannot test in the environment, we are not sure how Diesel would go living with cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.

Training & Development: Diesel would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes may also be a good option for Diesel, so that he can learn how to interact with other dogs appropriately. Diesel can be a little jumpy when he first meets you or when he gets excited (play time etc) so this kind of behaviour will need to be trained - he doesn't do it all the time, though.

Diesel knows his name, but he pretends that he doesn't sometimes. He also knows commands such as: sit. He is food motivated too and is known to be gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Diesel has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep him content & healthy. Diesel loves his toys - he likes chew toys, rope toys, balls, rubber toys and soft toys!

Diesel walks well on a lead with minimal pulling. He is fine to be walked on either a harness, collar or martingale.

Staff Comments:
Diesel is hilarious. He's such a funny boy. He has energy to burn and just need to reign in his enthusiasm about everything that life has to offer. He's so keen to see everything that he can often get over stimulated but he's smart enough to know his limits.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
