Meet Elizabeth,
Elizabeth is a playful and affectionate girl who’s ready to rule your heart! She is friendly, happy, and always up for an adventure, making her the perfect match for active individuals or families. She’s adaptable and would thrive in any loving home. If you’re an experienced dog owner looking for a fun, affectionate, and energetic dog, Elizabeth is ready to meet you!
Elizabeth is curious and excitable, always eager to explore the world around her. While she’s smart, she also has her moments of pure puppy silliness - because who doesn’t love a dog with a little bit of lovable goofiness?!
Elizabeth is social and playful, with a semi-boisterous side when she’s having fun. She adores her humans, making friends with dogs, enjoys a good cuddle, and will happily be your best friend for life. However, she has her moments of aloofness - staring into space and having a 'I have no idea' expression on her sweet, lovable face is her speciality.
Ideal Home: Elizabeth is suitable to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Family: Elizabeth is open to meet kids from 5yrs & up. Families with young children should be aware that she plays like a puppy and may unintentionally knock over smaller kids during playtime.
Elizabeth is fine to spend small amounts of time in the yard on her own, but she would LOVE to be inside with her family. Elizabeth is suitable to live with people who work part-time hours. Although she shows no signs of separation anxiety, she loves being around people.
Furry Friends: Elizabeth is open to meet other dogs. During her dog assessment she had a loose body & there were lots of happy tail wags. However, she has no manners... So, she will need some training to enforce good manners when meeting another dog & if going home with another dog, the existing dog should be tolerate of her silly puppy-like behaviour.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Elizabeth would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Elizabeth would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes would also be good to ensure that the doggo social skills that she already has don't go to waste, these group classes will also help her learn manners, too.
With time to settle & ongoing training, Elizabeth could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friend café or social setting.
Elizabeth is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as: sit. She is food motivated and is known to be gentle when taking treats from you - having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Elizabeth has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins every day to keep her healthy & happy. Elizabeth shows some interest in playing with toys, but she really enjoys personal play with her handlers, going for walks & meeting other dogs.
Elizabeth walks well on lead and is best to be walked on a collar or harness.
Staff Comments: Elizabeth is suitable for most homes & lifestyles. She is a great 'first family' dog. She is sweet & loves people. She can be a little too excited at times and just around - this is just something that she does but we have been working with her on this & she has shown some great improvement. She needs a dedicated owner whose willing to invest some time - she's got loads of potential to be a really great dog for someone.
Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
