Meet Harry Hopper,

Harry Hopper is a gentle soul with a heart as soft as his velvety ears. This sweet bunny may be a little shy at first, but give him a moment to warm up, and you’ll see his curious side shine through. Whether he’s exploring a new corner of his enclosure or quietly observing the world around him, Harry has an endearing way of simply going with the flow. He’s the perfect choice for someone who understands the beauty of patience.

Harry Hopper is best suited to home environments that are on the quieter side, as loud noises tend to startle him -  in addition, Harry is open to meet kids from 5 years & up simply because older children will make less noise. Harry is open to meet younger kids, providing that they are quiet & understanding of how special bunnies are. It's important to note that rabbits are often curious & cautious by nature so Harry is looking for a home with a family who will love him & make him feel like part of the family.

Harry is a typically quiet bun, who allows handling & being picked. He's very easy to handle when you pick him up, he'll gladly & quietly sit in your arms. He doesn't mind head scratches but really likes his back being scratched! If you pick Harry up, just make sure you support his little bottom and be mindful of his hind legs.

In terms of housing, Harry Hopper will need a safe & secure hutch. Somewhere out of the sun with plenty of shade. A place that is comfortable & cool for the warmer months, and warm & cozy for the cooler months. A portable hutch that can be taken inside would great too, especially for really hot days or really cold nights as buns are sensitive to changes in weather.

Harry Hopper will also need access to fresh clean water, an assortment of toys to chew on & play with and fresh food daily. Toys don't have to be expensive, simple cat toys like plastic rattle toys bring Harry a lot of joy! He’ll happily play with them & gentle toss/roll them around.

Although Harry Hopper is learning how to use a litter tray, he shows very promising behaviour in learning how to be toilet trained. It's best to show him where the litter tray is when you get home to minimise any accidents. If you'd like to continue to house train him it would be a wise move having multiple litter trays available for him to use.

As we cannot test, we are unsure how Harry Hopper would go living with dogs or cats - this would be up to the discretion of his new owners. As rabbits are social creatures, Harry may do well living with another rabbit, but just make sure that they have a slow introduction to ensure that they get along. Harry has met another rabbit in our care, he was ok at first but started to stress as the interaction went on.

Staff Comments: Harry is a sweet & quiet bunny. He is easy to pick up & hold. He is shy, but will happily come over to see you when he's warmed up to you.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
