Meet Justice,
About: Justice is a sweet, sensitive soul looking for an experienced owner to help her continue blossoming into her confident self. She’s a little nervous around loud noises and sudden movements, but each day she’s learning that the world isn’t so scary after all. This clever girl is the Queen of Sit - seriously, she’ll nail it every time you ask (and she’ll expect a round of applause… or a treat, she’s not fussy). While she’s not the life of the party just yet, Justice is curious and keen to make new friends, even if her nerves sometimes get in the way.
Justice finds joy in life’s simple pleasures—walks, cuddles, and quality time with her favourite humans. Once she trusts you, she’ll shower you with affection and loyalty. She’s still learning to feel comfortable in new environments, but with love and patience, Justice is ready to show the world she’s unstoppable.
Justice thrives in a calm and quiet household where she can feel safe and secure.
Ideal Home: Justice is best suited to live in a standalone house or farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Justice would benefit from having free access to both indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing her to explore and relax at her own pace.
Family: Justice is happy to meet kids aged 6 and up - she just asks for a little understanding since she might bark directly at you for attention and occasionally needs some "me time" to recharge.
Justice is fine to live with people who work full-time hours. As long as they are dedicated to her want to train.
Furry Friends: Justice previously lived with another dog, but is best suited to being the only dog in her new home for now, as she’s still learning her canine manners. While she has shown potential to be dog social - complete with happy tail wags and face licks - she needs further training and desensitisation to refine her interactions. Her playful barking can sometimes be a bit much for other dogs (and people), especially if she gets frustrated if her playmate walks away. With patience and guidance, Justice could grow into a more confident and polite social butterfly, and we will be working with her on this too.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Justice would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owner.
Training & Development: Justice would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience, and group classes to develop her dog social skills & manners. Justice will occasionally jump up to say hello to you, this is because she loves to engage with you so much, but we are working with her on this behavioural quirk.
Justice is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as 'sit' & 'down' & is eager to learn more. Justice has a very purposeful 'sit' which makes us laugh whenever she does it. Justice is food motivated, and when she takes treats from you, she does so gently.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Justice has mid-range energy, and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins per day to keep her content. Justice isn't too interested in toys, she prefers training, perfecting her already perfect 'sit' & human interaction/personal play.
Justice walks quite well on lead, apart from the odd jump up to say hello or for treats. Justice is fine to be walked on a collar/lead.
Staff Comments: Is there was a race for faster 'sit' - Justice would win each & every time. She is very responsive & we are watching her grow in confidence each day. She's a funny girl who just needs a little time & patience - if you're patient, you'll be luck enough to get to see her cheeky, playful & loving side.
Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
