Meet Luna,

Luna isn’t just any dog - she’s a fun-loving, smart, and affectionate German Shepherd who’s ready to be your new best friend. Whether your home is calm and quiet or loud and busy, she’ll fit right in without missing a beat. She’s confident, social, and always excited for whatever comes next.

If you love staying active, Luna is the perfect dog for you. She enjoys going for walks, exploring new places, and taking on any adventure that comes her way. She’s also incredibly intelligent and thrives on training, always eager to show off her impressive list of tricks and commands. Engaging her mind is just as important as keeping her active, and she absolutely loves any challenge that makes her think.

Luna is happiest when she’s with her people, forming strong bonds and always wanting to be involved in whatever you’re doing. She would do best with experienced owners, especially those familiar with German Shepherds, who can keep up with her energy and intelligence. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and brilliant companion, Luna is ready to meet you!

Ideal Home: Luna is best suited to live in a standalone house or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.

Luna is fine to be in the yard, but if you're able to give her a treat puzzle to solve we feel that she's appreciate that! Time spent inside the home should be considered also, so that Luna can feel like part of the family.

Family: Luna is suitable to meet kids from 6 years & up. Reason for this is because this social & playful girl may accidentally knock smaller kids over during play time.

Luna is best suited to people who work part-time as she enjoys interaction. While she doesn't need your attention 24/7 she is very smart & enjoys being engaged.

Furry Friends: Luna is best to be the only dog in the home. She most likely never lived with another dog, nor was socialised, in her previous home. She is not interested in making friends with other dogs.

As we cannot test, we are unsure how Luna would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.

Training & Development: Luna would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. While Luna does jump, she is incredibly smart to learn not to and we are working with her on this behaviour - she has shown improvement already!

Luna knows her name & she knows commands such as: sit, down, shake, stay, roll over & crawl. She is food motivated but sometimes forgets her manners when taking treats from you though. Having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea, still.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Luna has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins a day to keep her engaged & happy. Luna is playful & likes to play with soft toys or squeaky toys. She also enjoys personal play with her handlers. Treat puzzles would be good for Luna as she enjoys 'working things out'...

Luna walks well on lead, but can be strong to walk. She is best to be walked on a harness.

Staff Comments:
Luna is a wonderful dog and a smart cookie. We have seen her grow & develop into a great dog in her short time with us. She is smart, engaging, loves training & loves to be around people.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
