Meet Macavity,

Macavity was previously adopted, however he was returned due to no fault of his own. Macavity is a sweet man. He is gentle, cuddly & curious. He loves to explore the cattery & even ventured outside into the cat park before realising that inside was much quieter. Despite his curious nature he will always navigate back to you for cuddles & pats.

Macavity is a social butterfly, happy to make friends wherever he goes. He is also very friendly & a happy boy although he can be a bit lazy too.

Macavity is a good fit for owners who have experience and is best to live in a calm & quiet home as he is a bit sensitive to noise.

Macavity is best suited for older kids. Much like the teens in the household, Macavity is also going through his own adolescent phase. He has loads of personality and doesn't like being told "no" or what to do. He's the type of cat that prefers to do his own thing, showcasing his independent streak. He's usually polite but may on occasion give you a bit of cheek every now & again...

Macavity loves being picked up, carried & cuddled but usually on his own terms - he'll definitely let you know when he wants & doesn't want attention. In addition to this, he also loves to be patted and if you’re specific on where exactly is his favourite spot? Then fear not, because he loves to be patted from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail.

We are unsure how Macavity would fair living with or meeting dogs. It is hard for us in this environment to test. However, based on his reaction in the cat park he may be a little put off by them if they are loud & boisterous. Introducing Macavity to dogs would be up to the discretion of his new owners.

We feel that Macavity would be able to co-exist and make cat friends in no time providing that the introduction is slow so that he can get used to his new home & any new feline friends. But in saying this, Macavity really loves all attention on him, so he would also be fine as the sole cat in the home too.

We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. Macavity may be a little too sensitive for outside living due to the noise. Plus, if he is outside, it will increase his chances of running away, getting lost, injured or worse. As an inside only cat he can be safe & sound & live his best life.

Macavity has low energy levels – we rarely see him play. He seems to prefer being curled up in a cozy bed. Macavity appears to like feathers & feather toys.

Macavity is usually a quiet, but he does like to chat here & there. You’ll often hear him chatting to you through he condo door in anticipation of it being opened for pats & cuddles.

Macavity is very food motivated – his new home should consider a slow feeder to ensure he doesn’t inhale his food. He loves all food types & cat treats, and he is also very clean as he always uses his litter tray.

Staff Comments: Macavity is a lovely, sweet cat with lots of love to give if you can give him your undivided attention. He is very food motivated and would benefit from food puzzles or slow feeders so that he doesn’t scoff his food down. He's not the type of cat to be forced into anything - he's independent & will usually do his on thing on his own term.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
