Meet Marshmallow,

About: Marshmallow is a spirited and loving girl perfect for experienced dog owners. Bursting with happiness and a friendly, social nature, she’s the life of the party wherever she goes. Marshmallow is playful, excitable, and full of life, making her an endlessly entertaining doggo. Her affectionate side shines through in her love for cuddles and she gives the sweetest kisses you’ll ever receive. If you’re looking for a boisterous bundle of joy to brighten your days, Marshmallow is ready to be your loyal, loving best friend!

Marshmallow is highly adaptable and would thrive in any household environment. She would be an excellent companion for active families or individuals, as she loves adventure and is always ready for fun!

Ideal Home: Marshmallow is best suited to live in a standalone house or farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.

Marshmallow would be fine to be outside most of the time, but would also like the opportunity to be inside with her new family too.

Family: Marshmallow is happy to meet kids aged 5 and up, provided they are dog-savvy. Her playful energy during playtime makes her best suited for kids who understand and enjoy an active, spirited dog.

Marshmallow is fine to live with people who work part-time hours.

Furry Friends: Marshmallow is dog selective. Marshmallow needs a little more socialisation & manners before we can call her dog social. She was eager to interact with the other dog. Sniffs & licks were exchanged, as well as play bows, however Marshmallow got a little tetchy, possibly due to this being her first interaction with another dog. Marshmallow was still able to maintain focus on her handlers commands despite having another dog there. Marshmallow has a puppy-like playstyle & with further training will be able to get over these barriers.

As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Marshmallow would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owner.

Training & Development: Marshmallow would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience, and group classes to develop her dog social skills & manners. As mentioned before, Marshmallow loves to give kisses, and she will jump up to gently plant one on your cheek, or mouth if you're lucky, we are working with her on this though...

With additional training, Marshmallow could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café, or social event.

Marshmallow is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as 'sit' & 'down' & is eager to learn more. Marshmallow is food motivated, and when she takes treats from you, she does so gently.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Marshmallow has mid-range energy, and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins per day to keep her happy. Marshmallow doesn't have any favourite toys at present, she prefers personal play & one on one time with her human friends.

Marshmallow walks well on lead, but is very excited. Marshmallow is fine to be walked on a collar/lead or harness.

Staff Comments: Marshmallow has a love of life like no other dog we have seen. She is a very happy dog. She is a great cuddle buddy & likes to play & interact. She is keen on learning new skills & making friends.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
