Meet Salem,

Salem is bonded with his brother from another mother, Archie (ID: 11475); so they will need to be adopted together.

Salem is a gentle & independent boy. Although suitable for first time owners, Salem is apart of a bonded pair, so he'll need an experienced owner. Salem is agreeable, friendly & happy. He's very outgoing & confident. Salem is playful, very social & can be a little curious about a few things here & there... But apart from all of this fun stuff, Salem knows that he has a very important job - he knows, that he needs to take care of his brother Archie. Salem is a special cat who takes Archie under his wing & helps him to feel safe & confident. Salem knows that Archie needs him more than Salem needs Archie.

Salem is adaptable & is suitable to any household, but as Archie needs a quiet home - Salem will also need to be rehomed to a quiet home.

Salem is open to meet kids of any age - but kids in the home should be 10 years & up to accommodate Archie’s needs. Salem is very affectionate & engaging. He also loves to be patted & cuddled, and is fine to be picked up, carried & cuddled. Salem will show you how happy he is by rolling around & kneading with his paws.

As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Salem would go living with dogs, but a home without dogs in preferred to accommodate Archie.

Salem lived with his brother Archie in their previous home. Salem has a lot of confidence and we feel that he could easily make friends with other cats, too.

We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. Salem may be a little too confident for outside living. If he is outside, his confidence & friendly demeanour will surely see him leave the safety of his property, which will increase his chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside only cat he can be safe & sound & live his best life.

Salem has low mid-range energy levels – while he is very energised when it comes to pats & cheek scratches - he rarely plays with toys, preferring human interaction.

Salem is not fussy with his food, loving anything that is offered to him & he also always uses his litter tray without any issues.

Staff Comments: Salem is a super sweet, loving boy who loves all of the attention on him. He is more outgoing than his brother, Archie. He's very affectionate & loves pats & cuddles. He is a big, gentle & cuddly boy.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
