Meet Sally,

About: Sally is an independent yet slightly sensitive dog, with a cheerful, outgoing, and curious nature. She is smart, highly trainable & shows great promise in developing her social skills with other dogs. Sally is excitable, playful, and engaging, making her an absolute pleasure to be around. Sally loves spending time with her handlers - she has a zest for life and loving personality, and would make a wonderful addition to any family.

Sally is super adaptable & is fine to live in any household environment. Sally would make an excellent choice for active families as she'll happily accompany her new family on any adventure they wish to take her on.

Ideal Home: Sally is best suited to live in a standalone house or a farm/acerage, with a large yard & high, secure fencing.

Sally is content being outside most of the time, but would adore the opportunity to be inside if given the chance, too.

Family: Sally is open to meet kids from 6 years & up. The reason for this is simply because she is still young with bouncy energy. She may accidently knock smaller children over during play.

Sally is also suitable to live with people who work full-time hours.

Furry Friends: Sally is best to be the only dog in the home, for now. Her dog assessment wasn't too bad, she was great to walk around the other dog, she had a loose body, sniffs & play bows were exchanged - typical, happy puppy behaviour, but there were moments where we saw her become a bit tense. She is incredibly trainable, and we were able to call her over & break her focus. We aim to work on socialisation with her so that she feels 100% comfy when meeting another dog - we will update her profile when we feel that she has reached the next milestone.

Sally would not be suitable for homes with cats or pocket pets as she has high prey drive.

Training & Development: Sally would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience, and group/puppy classes to learn manners & to develop her dog social skills. Sally is an excitable girl who will jump when she is excited - but we are working with her on this.

With additional training, Sally could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café, or social event.

Sally is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as 'sit'. Sally is very food motivated, and when she takes treats from you, she does so gently.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Sally has medium to high energy, and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her happy & healthy. Sally loves her soft toys and shows some interest in playing with tennis balls.

Sally walks well, with no pulling. But she may jump from excitement - she keeps eye contact with her handler - which is a testament to her trainability. Sally is fine to be walked on a collar & lead.

Staff Comments: Sally is still young, so she is excitable. She has loads of energy and would benefit from puppy classes & basic obedience training. She is a sweet girl that is very food motivated and trainable. She is slightly shy at time, especially when entering her kennel but she is able to recover quickly.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
