Campbelltown Local Housing Strategy
Campbelltown Local Housing Strategy 2041
The Campbelltown Local Housing Strategy (LHS)(PDF, 18MB) has been undertaken in accordance with the Western City District Plan and the Campbelltown Local Strategic Planning Statement to guide future local and regional decisions on housing provision and growth in the Campbelltown Local Government Area.
The LHS examines the housing needs of Campbelltown's current and future residents and puts forward an evidence-based approach to managing sustainable housing growth to 2041 and beyond.
The Campbelltown LHS was prepared by Campbelltown City Council in 2020 and updated in 2023 following extensive public exhibition, including feedback received during the preparation of the Campbelltown Community Strategic Plan 2027 and the Campbelltown Local Strategic Planning Statement.
Key objectives of the Campbelltown LHS
a) Provide an evidence-based assessment of the supply and demand of housing in the Campbelltown LGA, including consideration of demographic factors, housing trends, local land use opportunities and constraints, and infrastructure limitations.
b) Identify and respond to the constraints and opportunities for the delivery of new housing in the LGA having regard to the requirements of the Greater Sydney Region Plan and Western City District Plan.
c) Promote the efficient use of land and infrastructure by aligning housing growth with supporting infrastructure and social services, such as schools, health facilities and public transport.
d) Comply with State Government’s requirements for the preparation of Local Housing Strategies by Local Government in the Sydney Region.
