Work Experience

We believe it’s important to provide opportunities to our community, which is why we have a work experience program and volunteering program.

Work experience

What is work experience? Am I eligible?

Work experience is when a person who is currently studying, completes a short term work placement to learn what’s is it like to work in the industry and get hands on experience.

To be eligible for work experience, you must:

  • provide at least four weeks notice of your requested starting date
  • be currently studying at either high school – Years 10, 11 or 12, TAFE or at a university or college or be apart of a disability support organisation
  • have current insurance coverage (certificate of currency) from your study institution, covering you for the duration of your placement
  • have a current Working With Children Check number (for students who are doing work experience in Child Care and are over 18 years old) for more information please visit the NSW Government Office of the Children's Guardian website.

We provide work experience opportunities in all areas of Council, some of our most popular teams include:

  • Business Administration
  • Campbelltown Arts Centre
  • Child Care (you must be studying tertiary qualifications in Child Care Services).
  • Information Management and Technology
  • Leisure Centres
  • Library Services
  • Engineering
  • Finance

How do I apply?

To apply for work experience in one of the listed areas above, please complete a Work Experience Application Form.

Once we receive of your application, a Council representative will contact you to discuss your possible placement.

While we place as many students as possible, due to high demand we are unable to guarantee that all requests for placements will be met.

Volunteers

We value the work volunteers do for our local community.

Council aspires to make the volunteer experience an enjoyable and rewarding one and encourage personal and professional growth. We provide a supportive and safe working environment for our volunteers and understand the value of their commitment to our city.

Where can I get involved?

We currently accept volunteers in the following areas of Council operations:

Campbelltown Arts Centre

Campbelltown Arts Centre volunteers perform arts administration tasks and provide assistance with education groups, projects and events.

Volunteers are accepted pending applicants' interests and skill alignment with our current projects and program needs.

Individuals with a passion or experience in the creative arts are encouraged to apply.

Bushcare

Our Bushcare section coordinates the Bushcare volunteer program. Bushcare involves bush regeneration activities in Council’s bushland reserves.

Library Services

Our Library Services Teams currently utilise volunteers in English Conversation sessions and various other programs, facilitating and providing assistance to participants.

If you are skilled in facilitating, communicating and up to speed with new creative technology, please submit your application and one of our Library Team will be in touch.
