Where is the library moving?

The Library will be located at Downtown Plaza, 147-157 Queen Street.

When will the new library location open?

The new location is planned to open on Monday, 4 August, 2025.

When will the current location close to the public?

The current library will close from Thursday, 10 July 2025 at 8pm while we move our books, shelves, and more into the new space.

Can I still borrow from the library during the closure period?

While items from the HJ Daley Library collection will not be available for loan while we relocate, you can access the amazing collections at our branches at Ingleburn, Eagle Vale, and Glenquarie, and our online collections are available 24/7 https://www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/Services-and-Facilities/Libraries/Your-Library-Online

What if I still have an item out on loan?

You are welcome to continue to enjoy your items at home until we open at our new location. If you would like to return your items during the relocation you can return items to any Campbelltown City Library branch.

Your library has auto renewals. As long as there is no reservation on an item it will be automatically renewed for you up to 2 times and you will receive a notification with the new date the item is due.

What parking or other transport options will be available at the new library site?

The new site is located conveniently in the Campbelltown City Centre.

There is extensive public parking available in the Milgate Lane car park and in other areas of the Campbelltown CBD for visitors to use. There are also significant accessible parking options around the new site.

Works were recently completed to increase the number of disability parking spaces in Milgate Lane and improve pedestrian accessibility. READ MORE: Art installation to welcome visitors to new Campbelltown City Library - Campbelltown City Council

Is the new site accessible?

Ensuring our library services are accessible to all has been a priority during the project.

Inside the building, a new lift has been installed to ensure easy access between the two levels.

Works have recently been completed at the rear entrance in Milgate Lane. This includes a new crossing, new pavement works and additional disability parking spaces.

What are the features of the new location?

The new location includes spaces for:

  • The library collection, including books, DVDs, CDs, computers
  • Quiet study area
  • Meeting rooms

Why is the library moving?

HJ Daley Library has served our community for over 30 years in its current location.

When it was opened in 1991, it was tailored to a smaller population. As our city has grown, so has the demand for a space that can provide for the increased number of programs and resources required to service the community.

It is anticipated that the new location will introduce 10,000 additional visitors to the city centre each month, creating significant economic uplift in the area.

The location will also increase the ability of Council to trial new services and programs in conjunction with community partners within the Campbelltown City Centre.
