Project Scope

To deliver a creative placemaking project in the outdoor aviary/greenhouse area within council's property at 261 Queen Street. The project will transform this space via minor rectification and construction works, to create an accessible, vibrant and safe space for activation.

Key Deliverables

  • Install new front gate and close off existing gate to back of property
  • Remove tree and get permission from neighbouring property to trim back and tidy bushes
  • Rectify existing power access to the space & install new light fittings
  • Remove wire mesh sheeting from the structure
  • Clean structure
  • Remove uneven paved floor and install new floor (concrete with epoxy seal)
  • Check tap function and fix to wall – fit a sink by the tap
  • Install path and final landscaping at entrance to Queen St

  • Contributes to the activation of Council's newly acquired property at 261 Queen Street
  • Creating a temporary space for local creatives to showcase their craft and engage with community
  • Facilitate community engagement and activity on a quieter part of Queen Street

Objectives

  • To contribute to the revitalisation of the Queen Street Precinct through creative place activation
  • To repurpose an unused Council owned asset for community use
  • Add vibrancy to this section of Queen Street 
  • To create more foot traffic within this section of Queen Street, encouraging new visitors to discover local surrounding businesses
