Did you know? The first recorded European sighting of a koala occurred near Bargo in 1798 by John Price. It was not until the 1890s that koalas were recorded in Campbelltown, some 100 years later.
Garilwa -The word ‘koala’ is thought to have come from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘no drink’ because koalas obtain most of the moisture they need from gum leaves.
Twenty seven years of data recorded by Professor Robert Close and many other research students and community members formed the creation of the Campbelltown Koala Research and Database 1989 - 2016.
