What can you do to help as resident, business owner or visitor?

Everyone can help our koalas and each of us can play a vital role in their protection. Together we can help ensure a safer and heathier future for our koalas.

Residents

Koalas are a unique part of Campbelltown's identity, but they need our help. Residents can play a vital role by:

  • Report sick of injured koalas to WIRES (0466 318 688) or Sydney Wildlife (02 9413 4300)
  • Report koala sightings via 02 4645 4601, koalatown@campbelltown.nsw.gov.au, or the I Spy Koala App (downloadable via the App Store on your device)

  • Drive carefully in areas east of the train line, especially at dusk, dawn or during the night. If you hit a koala, contact WIRES or Sydney Wildlife

  • Keep dogs secured when unattended, preferably indoors at night and always walk them on a lead outside your home or use an off-leash area
  • Report all roaming dogs to Council at 02 4645 4604

  • Plant koala food trees to protect and restore koala habitat, or join a Bushcare group

  • Make rural fences koala friendly (30cm gap, no barbed wire or wooden posts) and ensure secure internal fencing to keep dogs in and koalas out
  • Place a secured rope in pools to help koalas climb out

  • Support wildlife carers by donating or purchasing souvenirs from the Visitor Information Centre
  • Spread awareness by displaying a Koalatown sticker, talking to friends and encouraging visits to local reserves.

Business Owners

Businesses can play a vital role in supporting Campbelltown's koalas and their habitat. Small actions can make a big difference, such as:

  • Register as a Koalatown supporter and proudly display the Koalatown Supporter poster in your shop window or on your vehicle

  • Become a project partner by providing sponsorship for one of our upcoming programs that support koala protection and habitat restoration

  • Support our dedicated wildlife carers by donating directly or purchasing a souvenir at the Campbelltown Visitor Information Centre, with all proceeds going to wildlife conversation efforts

  • Raise awareness by placing a sticker on your car, mailbox or bin and encourage your customers, friends and family to visit local reserves and participate in programs to help protect Campbelltown's koalas.
