A series of trees are being planted along some of Campbelltown’s main thoroughfares to honour the memory of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and celebrate her Platinum Jubilee.

A large maple tree and 23 pear trees are being planted at Koshigaya Park along Camden Road over the coming month alongside 32 hoop pine trees that have recently been planted on Therry Road, between Gilchrist Drive and Appin Road.

“These tree planting projects honour the memory of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, while also marking the 70 years that she served,” Mayor George Greiss said.

“These trees are a great addition to our public domain and will add important greenery to the landscape of one of our best public parks, as well as one of our busiest roads,” Dr Greiss said.

Dr Mike Freelander MP, the Federal Member for Macarthur remarked “the planting of these trees will greatly enhance the natural environment of Campbelltown and help to improve the air quality and urban tree canopy of Koshigaya Park.”

“I congratulate Campbelltown City Council on being successful in receiving funds from the Australian Government’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee program.”

This project received funding from the Australian Government’s Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program.
