261 Queen Street to become artistic hub in Campbelltown CBD

A new space in the Queen Street precinct will host a range of creative activities and programs following the refurbishment of the old aviary next to the Old Campbelltown Post Office.

Campbelltown City Council and Campbelltown Arts Centre have begun works to revitalise a section of 261 Queen Street and convert the Council-owned space into an interactive place for creatives to showcase their crafts, as well as host art events in Campbelltown CBD.

Construction works are set to begin on Monday 19 August, with early site maintenance already underway at the CBD location.

“In our Community Strategic Plan 2032, we outlined a commitment to providing safe, accessible and inclusive facilities in our community,” Mayor Dr George Greiss said.

“Forum Q and our street artwork installations demonstrate how these spaces can be enhanced in artistic and interactive ways and so I look forward to seeing our community benefit from this collaborative new space,” Dr Greiss said.

Works on the new creative space are expected to finish in October, when it will open to the public as part of Campbelltown Arts Centre programs and events hosted by Campbelltown City Council.

Local groups and businesses will also be welcomed to book the creative space for community-led events.
