Summer Book Binge program launching at Campbelltown libraries

Campbelltown residents and children are being encouraged to read more books and support their local library this summer through the new Summer Book Binge initiative.

Campbelltown City Council will launch the summer reading program in early December, which is a merger of the previous Summer Book Binge and Summer Reading Club at local library branches.

The program is open to people of all ages and aims to increase literacy and exposure to reading while also promoting library collections and the benefits of library membership at HJ Daley Library, Eagle Vale Library, Greg Percival Library and Glenquarie Library.

The Summer Book Binge will start on Sunday 1 December 2024 and run until Friday 31 January 2025.

“There are plenty of avid readers in Campbelltown and the Summer Book Binge offers a great opportunity for people of all ages to explore their local library,” Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said.

“I encourage everyone from across our city to get involved in this new and exciting reading program over the coming months,” Cr Lound said.

To enter the Summer Book Binge program, people must hold a valid Campbelltown City Library membership and opt in for the initiative by registering online or speaking with a library team member.

Participants must also borrow an item from one of Campbelltown’s four library branches.

One major prize and four minor prizes will be automatically on offer for those people who enter the challenge. The major prize will be an iPad Mini (A17 Pro), while four curated library gift hampers will also be on offer.

The winners will be announced in early February 2025.
