Campbelltown’s sporting infrastructure is set for a boost following today’s announcement that the NSW Government’s WestInvest fund will deliver $16.7 million to build a new Sports and Health Centre of Excellence at Campbelltown Stadium.

The $33 million project will deliver new sports science, health and wellbeing and community development and outreach programs as well as supporting development pathways for elite athletes in the region.

Eschol Park Soccer Club will also benefit from a $2.8 million commitment to upgrade the clubhouse, storage and spectator areas at Eschol Park Sporting Complex.

“I’d like to thank the NSW Government and our other important project partners for helping to bring this project into the heart of Campbelltown, enhancing our signature sport precinct at Campbelltown Stadium,” Cr Greiss said.

“Working with Western Sydney University as a key partner in this project, the Centre of Excellence will be a critical hub for education and sports science in our region, where our local people can study and work in a world-class facility,” he said.

“With the support of our local teams Wests Tigers and Macarthur FC, the Centre of Excellence will also help to nurture the next generation of elite athletes across the Macarthur region.”

The Campbelltown Sport and Health Centre of Excellence is a partnership between the NSW Government, the Australian Government, Campbelltown City Council and Western Sydney University.
