NSW Youth Week returns with program of free community events
Published on 25 March 2025
Local youth are encouraged to get involved in a program of free community events celebrating NSW Youth Week from Wednesday 9 to Thursday 17 April.
This year’s theme is ‘I Am…We Are the Future, and the Future is Now’, a call for youth to empower their collective voice as future influencers, leaders and decision-makers by celebrating their own unique strengths and skills.
“Youth Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our young people and provide opportunities for them to come together and connect in Campbelltown LGA,” said Mayor Darcy Lound.
“We’ve worked closely with the Macarthur Homelessness Steering Committee, Campbelltown City Youth Interagency and our grant-funded local businesses and groups, to ensure our event program offers a variety of experiences and opportunities that support our young people, and the goals outlined in our 2024-2030 Youth Plan,” Cr Lound said.
The NSW Youth Week program is proudly supported by the NSW Government and includes six grant-funded community events including:
- Rhyme & Reason – Hip-Hop Workshop by The Sedgewick Ave Project (Tuesday 8 April, 11.30am to 6pm)
- Youth Amplified Leadership Workshop by Rainbow Crossing Inc (Wednesday 9 April, 5.30pm to 8pm)
- Youth Wellbeing Workshop by Horizon Youth (Thursday 10 April, 6.40pm to 9pm)
- Comic-Writing and Panelling Workshop by OzComiX (Friday 11 April, 11am to 1pm)
- Fitness Training Workshop by Big Heart Big Vision (Sunday 13 April, 7pm to 8.30pm)
- Succulent & Plant Workshop by Lavender & Willow (Tuesday 15 April, 11am to 1.30pm)
Locals are encouraged to support Youth Homelessness Matters Day on Wednesday 16 April by purchasing a ticket to the Big Campbelltown Sleepout at Campbelltown Billabong Parklands in support of youth facing homelessness in the Macarthur region.
From 6pm, participants will be able to enjoy a variety of activities at the fundraising event, before taking part in an overnight sleepout.
