Disability Inclusion Action Plan
The Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is a whole of Council response to inclusion in the City of Campbelltown and builds on from the Campbelltown Disability Action Plan 2009–2014.
The DIAP guides Council’s strategic approach to inclusion with the following four focus areas:
- Attitudes and behaviours
- Liveable communities
- Employment
- Systems and Processes.
The DIAP will be integrated into the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework through the Delivery Program and annual Operating Plan and budget.
National Disability Insurance Scheme
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides all Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable and necessary supports. These are things related to your disability that you need to live your life and increase your options such as getting a job or doing more activities in the community.
If you’re eligible to participate in the scheme, the NDIS will develop a plan with you to help you access the support you need. NDIS have developed a range of new resources, including fact sheets and videos, to help you understand and access the NDIS.

Companion Card
The Companion Card is issued to people with a significant, permanent disability, who can demonstrate that they are unable to access most community activities and venues without attendant care support. Participating organisations will issue the cardholder with a second ticket for their companion at no charge so people with support needs can attend events with a companion.

Mobility map
Council, in consultation with the Seniors and Disability Advisory Group, developed a Mobility Map resource to provide access information for the Campbelltown and Ingleburn Central Business Districts (CBDs).
The Mobility Map has been developed to assist people with disability to identify the locations of major accessible amenities and transport options in the Campbelltown and Ingleburn CBDs. The map lists accessible toilets, railway stations, bus stops and facilities for the convenience of both local residents and visitors to the area.

International Day of People with Disability
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on or around 3 December each year. IDPwD is a United Nations observed day celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability, while celebrating their achievements and contributions to help grow a more inclusive Australia.
IDPwD is an opportunity for us to make positive changes to the lives of the 4.4 million Australians with disability. As an individual, school, community group, business or organisation, there are many ways you can get involved and promote inclusion in your community.
