Heavy vehicle parking
Council receives many complaints regarding heavy vehicle parking in on-street locations within residential areas.
Heavy vehicles may create unsafe environments for other road users by causing an obstruction or impeding vision. Further, pedestrians may be forced onto roads and motorists to the wrong side of the road in order to pass these vehicles.
To maintain the amenity and scenic quality of residential, environmentally sensitive and rural areas within the Campbelltown Local Government Area and to regulate the number of heavy vehicles parked within these areas Campbelltown City Council has adopted certain development standards(PDF, 535KB) under the Campbelltown (Sustainable City) Development Control Plan 2015.
It is an offence under the Road Rules 2014 regulations to stand a heavy/long vehicle (with a Gross Vehicle Mass of 4.5 tonne or greater or longer than 7.5m) on a street in a built up area for longer than 1 hour.
For information regarding noise (truck start and warm up times) see our Neighbourhood Noise page.
