Litter From Vehicles

Council Community Response Officers patrol the Local Government Area and regularly detect motorists depositing various forms of litter such as cigarette butts and food wrappers from motor vehicles. This litter may be harmful to our environment and contributes to stormwater pollution.

The fine for committing the offence of littering from a motor vehicle is:

  • $1,000 if the vehicle is owned by a corporation or
  • $500 if the vehicle is owned by an individual.

Community Response Officers educate our community on the problem of littering from vehicles through media releases and Compliance Programs.

Reporting litter offences

Community members are able to report littering from motor vehicles on the NSW EPA Website.
