Confident swimmer or completely new – we have a program tailored to suit you. Don’t let a lack of confidence in the water keep you or the kids from enjoying a refreshing dip in the water.

Our Learn to Swim program operates year round, seven days a week and classes are scheduled for a half hour lesson once a week with an industry qualified instructor. Learn to Swim lessons are available both morning and afternoon, Monday to Friday, as well as Saturday and Sunday morning. (Excluding Public Holidays).

Payments are made via direct debit.

We are an Active Kids and first lap provider and you can redeem your $50  vouchers for swimming lesson fees. Visit service.nsw.gov.au to apply for your vouchers.

Change class time or day

Current students can change their class time or day by logging into our customer portal.  To cancel your enrolment please leisure@campbelltown.nsw.gov.au with 10 days notice

Notifying us of an absence

Can't attend a lesson? You can now mark your child absent on your account via the online portal.

Swimming levels

Lessons are available for students aged six months to adults.

Starting from a Clam, children progress through 10 different levels in our Learn to Swim programs(PDF, 888KB) as they develop their swimming skills and refine basic watery safety skills, all the way to becoming Sharks. Each level is recognised with an accomplishment award.

Infants (0-2 years)

Clam - 6 months to 12 months

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • In this class, parents engage with your children in water familiarisation skills, building a relationship with the water and basic swimming skills through games, songs and activities.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Tadpole.

Tadpole - 12 months to 24 months

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • In this class, parents play an important role in developing your child’s skills in the water. Water familiarisation and basic skills are learned through games, songs and activities.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Frog.

Preschool (2 years to school age)

Frog - 2 years to 5 years

  • This level aims at building water familarisation and basic skills for pre-school aged beginners. The instructor will take the children through various swimming based activities and games. Aimed at building confidence in the water and developing basic swimming skills.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Lobster.

Lobster - 3 years to 5 years

  • This class is for the water confident child who can demonstrate basic swimming skills and flotation. Children in lobsters will learn the basic motions of freestyle and refine basic water safety skills.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Octopus.

School age to adults

School age children generally require a quick swimming assessment which can be booked over the phone. For further details please contact the Swim School within each Leisure Centre.

Octopus - 5 years and older

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • This class is for the water confident child who can demonstrate basic swimming skills and flotation. Children in Octopus will learn the basic motions of freestyle and refine basic water safety skills.
  • Students progressing from this level move to Swordfish.

Swordfish

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • This level children will work on developing their freestyle skills focusing on correct technique. Children in swordfish will learn the basic motions of backstroke and shallow diving. Children will refine basic water safety skills.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Seal.

Seal

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • This class, children will work on refining their freestyle and backstroke skills with a focus on correct Technique. Children in seals will learn the basic movements of the breaststroke leg action. Children will learn water safety skills appropriate to their swimming ability and age.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Stingray.

Stingray

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • Children in this class will further their capabilities with freestyle and backstroke, with an emphasis on correct technique. Children in this level will also learn the basic motions of breaststroke and practice use of a pace clock.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Whale.

Whale

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • This class focuses on improving the swimmer’s capabilities with freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Swimmers learn techniques to improve their diving skills, turns and use of a pace clock. This class will re-enforce water safety skills appropriate to the swimmers age and ability.
  • Children progressing from this level move to Shark.

Shark

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • This is the final level within the swim school. In this level, swimmer’s endurance levels are challenged in preparation for squad, while maintaining a focus on stroke technique. Swimmers will refine competitive swimming essentials inclusive of pace clock reading, turns and dives. Water safety skills still remain a focal point in this level to assist swimmers in responding to an aquatic incident.

Adults

  • Duration 30 minutes
  • Adult lessons are tailored to individual needs, ability and goals of the attendee. 

 

 

Our Learn to Swim program is a year round program which takes a four week break over the Christmas and New Year period.
