Ground closures
To ensure the safety of participants and help protect the playing surface, Council sporting grounds may be subject to closures during inclement weather or for maintenance works to take place.
Who makes a decision on ground closures?
During regular business days Council shall determine whether playing fields are to be closed for training and/or competition with decisions being made by 9am for school use or 3pm for evening training use. On weekends and public holidays, a decision on whether or not a ground is fit for play will generally be made by the particular sporting association / club to whom the ground is hired, with that sporting group bearing the responsibility for any damage or injury that may occur where the grounds are used when unsuitable.
Note: Ground closures do not impact Campbelltown Athletics Centre, Lynwood Park Synthetic or Coronation Park Netball Complex, which are all-weather facilities.
However, during periods of extreme or ongoing inclement weather, Council may close grounds for training/games or school use, or to repair any damaged or unsuitable grounds.
How to find out if a sports ground is closed or reopened due to wet weather?
Please contact your Club or Association directly for the status of grounds.
Alternatively, for the latest information about any sports ground closures in Campbelltown visit our sports ground status page and Council's Facebook Page. During periods of sports ground closures Council will post site wide alerts which appear above the Campbelltown City Council logo at the top of every web page.
